In June, a second-hand store called Røverkjøp will open in Hillevåg, Stavanger. The 1,000-square-meter shop will be operated by Stavanger Red Cross and Nettverk etter soning (NES / Network after serving time). Røverkjøp aims to provide former offenders with job training while also supporting the organizations financially.
The initiative for the store comes from NES-leader Ingrid Neteland, who wanted to help participants take a step closer to the job market. The startup phase is funded with NOK 1.5. million from various foundations. Apart from two administrative positions, the store will be run by volunteers.
The warehouse is already stocked, and donations have been pouring in. The store needs around 50 volunteers, and an informational meeting will be held om March 6 for those interested in contributing.
