Oslo-based NoMy (Norwegian Mycelium) took home the top prize as the Oslo Innovation Award 2025 was announced during Oslo Innovation Week.
Founded in 2020 by former Google executive Ingrid Dynna and microbiologist David Andrew Quist, the company has developed a fermentation technology based on mycelium – the root structure of fungi – that transforms industrial side streams from the food industry into high-quality proteins and ingredients for food and feed.
The jury highlighted NoMy as a strong example of how innovation can generate both environmental and economic value. Through its circular platform, the company converts industrial by-products into mycoproteins – with clear relevance to several of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
This year also marked significant international progress for NoMy; earlier this spring, the company raised €2.6 million in investment, established a subsidiary in Japan, and initiated partnerships for production capacity in Europe.
